amazing group of musicians. We called ourselves "Lost Borders" because we were dedicated to finding a sound that had no genre boundries. The "Santa Cruz Years" are incredibly special to me.

This is my favorite CD to date. In 2007 we flew to Austin, TX to lay down drum and percussion tracks (and, as it turned out, some bass and fiddle too) at our dear friend Merel Bregante's studio. He set the groundwork for what Casey and I were hoping to build: a raw sound that's slick at the same time; big emotion and quiet thought; a wash of crazy colors over a very solid structure.
When we got back to Nashville, Mike Bradley helped us put the rest of it together and there you have it - not overnight...but over time.
Then when I decided to revamp the "Flyer Song" video, I was so blessed to have my dear friend Ron Oates at the helm. He arranged, played, produced and directed and the result is an amazing soundtrack to an already amazing video. I just had to put it on the CD.
I hate that it takes so long from top to bottom of any given project in my life but that's how it is when you're doing everything yourself...I mean when you are leading a group of magnificent angels from one place to the next - it just takes time.
I do believe, though, that "if you build it, they will come". And by "they" I mean shows, travel, new friends, adventures, fans, new co-writers and more, more, more music.
