good-bye to a friend, "LORENA" and a new babies are born.

2011 got off to a very shaky start. Casey and I lost our long time trio partner and dear, dear friend Todd Cerney; who lost his fight with Melanoma on March 14th.

For a couple of months we rattled around the house, stared at each other, tried to write and perform but we really had very little motivation.

During that time Casey was working on a book about songwriting and, quite frankly, I started to feel a little bit lost.

Thank goodness an angel in the form of a female trio landed on my shoulder and I was asked to join; filling the spot of a member who had just left.

"Lorena" is the name of the group and Diane, Crystal and I sing together like we've being singing our whole lives together. I'm having a blast

In June, Casey and I went to Norway to celebrate the wedding of our friends Aud and Per and to visit with all of our "family" there
. We traveled to Denmark and Germany, visited, celebrated and on one rainy afternoon a tight group of us wandered down to the Fjord behind our friend Bjoro's house and said a final farewell to Todd as a song he wrote, "Stand in the Water" played in rhythm with the rain and his ashes slowly floated out to sea.

Casey and I have slowly been regrouping. We've got a new publishing company called "CASEY KELLY SONGS - The Cowboy Rides Away Music Group™", I've got Lorena and we added 2 little furry guys to our family.  OH, and I'm proud to announce the birth of a bouncing baby BOOK that was born of many months of hard work and stress. Congratulations to Casey!

As always
you can join my mailing list to get information about shows, etc.

And speaking of shows, Casey and I are "retooling" ours. It's going to be AWESOME. More theatrical; more funny; more moving; more everything. Stay tuned....

Also, my FaceBook Artist Page is a good place to hear about things or just read my blog,
"News on a Personal Note", where I have 2 new post categories: Design Diva (what? come and find out!) and "Sing for My Supper" (again, I can't just TELL you!).

I've been busy writing with awesome co-writers and I'm pitching the songs to anyone who'll listen.

That's it for now. Let's have a do-over on kicking it in 2011!!!!

live reviews:

“[Ellis’] singing, always vibrant, is haunting”               - -William A. Henry III, Time Magazine

“Leslie Ellis is the real deal. Her CD should be in your CD player, not in the case! She is not only one
of the best singer/songwriters out there but her live shows will take your breath away. When they
patterned Country Music, she was part of that pattern!”
- Mickey Bunn, Program Director-Morning Host WNKX Country KiX 96 FM, Centerville, TN

“...Leslie Ellis fills the room and stops listeners’ hearts for a moment” - The Hartford Courant

“Leslie Ellis blows me away.  Her live performances are mesmerizing.  Listening to Leslie Ellis' music, you find yourself asking, ‘how did she get this good?’ This woman has serious talent!” - Jana Stanfield, Singer/Songwriter

about my first CD:

“Standing at the Moment is a diverse collection of ten songs highlighting the fine vocal talents of Leslie Ellis, whose voice is so natural that you’ll swear you’ve heart it before.” - David Shultz, Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange (FAME)

“This is a remarkable CD. Many songs stay with me long after I've aired them.” - Steve Jerrett, of KOPN in Columbia, MO

“An album as engaging and evocative as Leslie Ellis & Lost Borders' debut full-length, Standing at the Moment, makes you put down whatever you're doing and settle in to listen. It invites you not merely into a fictional realm bounded by the songwriter's artifice, but into a new perspective on the world around you.” - Rob Pratt, The Santa Cruz Good Times
